First day of school for 2012 -2013 school year. Caleb is a big 2nd grader and Ava a Kindergartner. They both ride the same bus and go to Buckner Elementary. A super first day they both had and came home off the bus with big smiles and great reports of their first day. I do have to tell a quick story to remember Ava's first day of Kindergarten, which I am sure will be looked back on over the years with good laughs. So, Ava has been so excited for Kindergarten, going to school every day all day and riding the same bus with all her big brother and cul de sac friends. The night before first day Ava picked out her outfit. Fast forward to the morning of school. Ava wakes up excited, eats breakfast and puts on her outfit she had chosen. She puts on some new silver flat shoes. We took a couple happy pictures before heading out to bus stop. As we were heading out front door Ava decided she wanted to wear her other new Skecher Tennis shoes instead. We took kids out to bus stop as it was getting close for bus to come. I went back to our house quick and grabbed the skechers, and then went back out to bus stop and put them in Ava's backpack. Knowing I would see her at her school quickly that morning after she got dropped off at school, as us parents were going to drive to school to meet our kids getting off bus and take pictures. So decision was made to wait until then to change her shoes. Well, Ava decided then there was no way she was going to smile for the group picture with her cup de sac friends before the approaching bus came to pick them all up. As you can see from below pictures, Ava was a happy girl before we headed out our house to bus stop and she changed her mind about shoes. But was in no way going to smile as she wanted her shoes changed. She was still excited for school and to ride bus just not going to smile for picture no matter what! And then the pictures at school that morning, with shoes changed out, show her the happy Ava we know, all excited to find her class room and sitting at her desk to start first day. Her teacher is Mrs. Graf. I guess if I didn't already know, I definitely know now that I have my shoe lover girl to shop with over the years to come. I say this often and I will say it again...I so much love my Ava and everything that makes her who she is!
For Caleb, he had a super first day. Smooth sailing his first day was. He has Mrs. Elwell again who he had for 1st grade. Mrs. Elwell lives just down the street in our neighborhood and we are so happy to have her again!
Right after school we had a pool and ice cream party at the Vaughn's house in our cul de sac to celebrate the kids first day of school. And then for dinner, our cul de sac ordered pizza and gathered outside at the Vaughn's again.
I look forward to Caleb and Ava learning, growing and having a great school year!
