Caleb's first day of 1st grade

Caleb started 1st grade today! He is going to Buckner Elementary here in Kentucky. Caleb has been so excited to start school and over the weekend here he met some friends already in the neighborhood that go to the same school and ride the same bus. Simon, who is 8, lives across the street and those to have really become quite the buddies already, also rides this bus and goes to Buckner elementary. This morning, Caleb was so happy, ready and excited to ride the bus and go to his new school. The bus picks him up and drops him off right across the street from our house, along with his neighborhood friends in our culdesac.
I have made many a phone call the last month setting Caleb up for school there and made a couple trips into the school before this first day for Caleb. I could not be more happy with the school, staff and teachers. They are incredibly welcoming, caring, and love what they do. All the research I did this summer and everyone I talked to here in KY said to go to Oldham county for the schools and community. And wow, can i see why! Buckner elementary is rated #1 i KY, and they have gone out of their way to show me that already. Caleb's teacher, Mrs. Elwell, who I have been told everyone always hopes to get for a teacher, happens to live in our neighborhood. She reported to me today that he had a super day in her class.
I am so beyond proud of my Caleb! And can not wait to watch him continue to grow, learn, and have fun in this school year ahead in 1st grade.

Arriving at our house in Kentucky and let the unpacking begin...

I will keep this post short... Wednesday morning, August 24, we got to our house in KY by 10am. The kids were super excited to get inside to check out their new home. And then at 10:30am, the moving truck and movers arrived. Let's just say that day and the next couple days to follow were so crazy busy with unpacking morning to night. We still have unpacking to do, and are waiting for the 2nd moving truck to come with the rest of our stuff. I have had lots of requests for pics of the house, so I included a bunch below. In a post soon to come, I will show pictures and write more about all the wonderful neighbors and kids that welcomed us...

On the road to Kentucky

We headed out Tuesday morning, August 23 for the 12 hour drive to Kentucky. Craig drove the truck and I followed him driving the minivan. We drove that whole day and into the night, with a few rest stops between, until we spent the night just a couple hours from our final destination to our house in KY. The kids did awesome. This first picture right below is us pulling into our new neighborhood, and that is our house right behind the trees. My next post will be us in the house and unpacking...

Goodbye/Congrat parties- Our last weekend in MN

August 19-22 was our last weekend in MN spending time with our families before our big move ti Kentucky. We had such a great time at both of the parties put on for us- Saturday at Craig's parents house and Monday at Peter and Vanessa's. We saw lots of relatives, kids played with their cousins, Caleb had a last playdate with his friend Jack from our old neighborhood, Ava played with her favorite little dog Micky, lots of goodbyes knowing we will all see each other again with frequent visits to come both ways. We all have our health, happiness, and were ready for the new path our life was taking us. We drove out of Jordan August 23, Tuesday morning and began our journey 12 hours down the road to our new home in Kentucky...
