Neighborhood Camp-Out /1st day of Fall 2011

This afternoon I took the kids to the Creasey Mahan Nature Preserve just 15 minutes away from our house. It was their that we met up with our Heather Green neighbors on this first day of fall, for a Neighborhood Camp out! We got there around 4:30 and stayed til dark. A few of the neighbors put up tents and spent the night, while a majority of us took in all the activities and then headed the short distance home for the night. A list of the festivities: Helped put up tents, Nature Walks, Park playing, ate campfire roasted hot dogs and s'mores along with a potluck of foods everyone brought, kids played football and soccer, and ended the super night with a kids movie outdoors projected onto sheets! Super neighbors, super weather, and super fun!

Grandma Mary & Grandpa Albie 1st KY visit!

My parents/Grandma Mary and Grandpa Albie to Caleb & Ava, came to visit us for the first time here in Kentucky last weekend. So very much fun it was! We did just about everything we could fit in...watched Caleb's Buckner Elementary Fun Run, went fishing in our neighborhood (huge catfish was caught and some little sunny's), visited the horses in our neighborhood, went to the Louisville Zoo, ate at Lynn's Paradise Cafe in Louisville (amazing place!), kids loved playing with Micky and Minnie, grilled, relaxed, and just took in our time together:)

No more training wheels!

It was as simple as that...On this Sunday evening, my parents last day of their weekend visit here in Kentucky, Caleb announced on our walk back from fishing at the pond in our neighborhood and saying hi to the horses, that he wanted dad to take his training wheels off his bike. Okay we said, with excitement and a bit of wonder of was he really just going to hop on his bike just like that and take off riding...with no prior practice except for about 4 months ago one time back in Minnesota...Off he went on the first try, with a push from dad he took off around our cul de sac 3 times. It was starting to get dark out, so I couldn't get the best pictures, but will post more when I get more good ones in the days to come:) Caleb was beyond proud of himself! Once again, Caleb proved what he has always...when he is ready to do something, he will let it be known and do it. What a wonderful end to a super weekend with my parents first visit here to our new place in Kentucky. My next post will show what we did over the weekend with them.

Ava's 1st day of Preschool

Ava started preschool this week. Off she has been going very happily to Ms. Julie's class for half day afternoons. Ava has reported back that so far in these first 3 days she has been at her new school, she loves playing dress up and singing songs with her friends at school. So very proud of my beautiful girl and look forward to watching her continue to grow, learn, laugh and love!
